Friends of the Earth Czech Republic criticise new Czech Waste Management Plan
22 January, 2015
Czech government accepted in December 2014 new national Waste management plan for 2015-2024. Current municipal solid waste recycling ratio is 30 % (by Ministry of Environment data, by Eurostat less= two different data collection is another big problem of Czech Republic)
In new Waste management plan for 2015-2024 has been set municipal solid waste recycling target for 2020 only around 35 % (it is 50 % recycling for paper, plastic, glass and metal from municipal solid waste).
Friends of the Earth Czech Republic is hardly critical to small recycling target for municipal solid waste in 2020. What more this in reality decreasing of recycling target for municipal solid waste because previous Waste management plan for 2003-2014 contain 50 % recycling target for municipal solid waste.
To set up small recycling target for municipal solid waste mean open doors for enforcement of more facilities for treating mixed municipal waste (like incinerators). Director of Veolia Czech Republic announced to build incinerator is priority for Veolia.
Friends of the Earth Czech Republic would like to ask you to let them know what is recycling target of municipal solid waste in your country (and give them any open source for it). Please contact Mr. Ivo Kropacek (ivo [dot] kropacek [at] hnutiduha [dot] cz).
