Stakeholder consultation on the evaluation of RoHS exemptions

20 July, 2012

The European Commission is collecting contributions on exemptions from the substance restrictions in electrical and electronic equipment – the RoHS II Directive.

The purpose of the consultation is to gather technological and socio-economic data in order to carry out a scientific and technical assessment of recently submitted requests for exemptions from the substance restrictions of the RoHS II Directive. The exemption requests will be evaluated on the basis of as much fact-based evidence as possible. The consultation covers 11 exemption requests concerning lead in certain appliances but also mercury, cadmium and chromium.

The consultation is open until 4 September 2012.
