Taking Stock of Industrial Ecology (ISIE Conference 2015)

7 July, 2015 — 10 July, 2015

The next in the International Society of Industrial Ecology’s series of biennial conferences will be held from Tuesday 7th July to Friday 10th July 2015 at the University of Surrey, a campus University about 50kms from London.

In an exciting addition to the usual platform and poster presentations of current research, there will be a series of presentations and panel discussions around the theme of the conference – “Taking Stock of Industrial Ecology”. These will review what industrial ecology has achieved so far, how it is being applied and how it needs to develop in future.  A book of specially written essays will be published around the time of the conference to provide a background for these special sessions.

ISIE’s Subject Sections and Student Chapter will be organising extra activities on Monday 6th and Saturday 11th July.

Accommodation will be available in student residences at the University and in hotels around Guildford. (Warning! - at least one of the hotels, parts of which date to the 14th century, is reputed to be haunted).

The conference will include a Conference Dinner at Epsom Racecourse (site of the original Derby horse race - not the Kentucky replica) and also visits to places of professional and cultural interest. If there is sufficient interest, a programme for “accompanying persons” will be arranged.

Guildford itself is only 35 minutes by rail from Waterloo station in the centre of London.  It can be reached by public transport from Heathrow and Gatwick airport, or alternatively by car.  Details of public transport with timetables will be added to the conference website nearer to the conference. In addition, a web page will be set up to enable people to form groups for car-sharing.
